The Supreme Court of Spain has started the process of dissolution of two Basque separatist parties, announced on 22 December AFP.
"Basque Nationalist Action" (ANV) and the Communist Party of Basque Lands "(PCTV) had been banned Supreme Court as early as September. In mid-December, the EU acknowledged the parties of terrorist organizations. However, the parties continue to lead some municipalities and to hold seats in Parliament, the Basque Country.
The Supreme Court ruled that the ANV and PCTV must finish their business and be liquidated within 10 days. At the same time, the court froze the accounts of parties.
Party ANV and PCTV believe heiress party Batasuna, banned in 2003. "Batasuna was the political wing of Basque separatist group ETA. Since 1968, the action of ETA killed about 800 people.
