Americans continue to fight in Iraq after the main withdrawal.

Part of the U.S. military will continue to participate in the fighting in Iraq even after the main conclusion from U.S. combat units will be completed, the Associated Press. As stated on Wednesday in the Pentagon, the implementation of the plan Barack Obama for the care of some of Iraq's military will likely still need to participate in operations against terrorists.
As expected, Obama will promulgate a strategy for withdrawal in the near future - probably on Friday. It is anticipated that almost all the fighting forces will be withdrawn within 18 months, but will remain in Iraq, U.S. troops strength to the Minister of Defense Robert Gates, in the tens of thousands of people. This contingent will assist in preparing and ensuring the Iraqi forces, as well as to protect Americans and U.S. property.
"I believe a limited number of those who remain will be to combat operations against terrorists, helping the Iraqi security forces. In fact, we are talking about people who can be described as ... a force of support," - explained on Wednesday the Ministry of Defense, Jeff Morrell (Geoff Morrell).
Obama ran for the presidential election with a promise to conclude the war in Iraq for 16 months, but the process is delayed. For the next 18 months, Iraq will leave more than 100 thousand U.S. military, that will save the strength for the campaign in Afghanistan. On Wednesday, the president met at the White House with Gates, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mallenom and other responsible persons, but the official statements of the meeting has not been done.
