UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia recognized the former Serbian President Milan Milutinovic is innocent of crimes against ethnic Albanians in 1990, reported Reuters.
The court decided Milutinović release from custody.
According to the Associated Press, the other five figures, the cases were sentenced to prison terms of 15 to 22 years.
Defendants at the trial, in addition to the former President of Serbia, was a former Prime Minister of Serbia, Nikola Shainovich, Chief of General Staff of the Federal Army of Yugoslavia Dragoljub Ojdanić and Nebojša Pavković, Pristina Corps commander Vladimir Lazarević and police general Sreten Lukić.
All six were accused of organizing the ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. According to the investigation, they were guilty of the forcible deportation of 800 thousands and killing hundreds of civilians in Kosovo in 1999.
Milutinovic surrendered voluntarily to the ICTY in 2003. Former President of Serbia, and five of his companions were brought to trial in July 2006.
