Two Saudi police officers were executed for the rape of women, transmits AFP referring to a source in the local Ministry of the Interior. Sha'lan Bin Nasser Al-Qahtani (Shaalan bin Nasser al-Qahtani) and Fahd Bin Hassan Al-Sebeyi (Fahd bin Hassan al-Sebeyi) were beheaded on 20 February.
According to state news agency SPA, the police attacked some emigrant and his niece at a checkpoint in Riyadh. They beat a man, and then locked him in a police car and raped his relative.
The names and nationality of the victims of criminals are not reported. Sha'lan Bin Nasser Al-Qahtani and Fahd Bin Hassan Al-Sebeyi were arrested shortly after the victims have applied to the nearest police station.
According to the AFP, from the beginning of 2009 in Saudi Arabia, where executions are usually held in public, was beheaded on 11 offenders. In 2008 the country had carried out 102 death sentences. In 2007, Saudi authorities have ordered the execution of 153 persons. Death penalty in Saudi Arabia provides for such crimes as rape, murder, apostasy, assault and drug trafficking.
