The court ordered the Serb authorities to pay the Muslim Bosnian town of Banja Luka 42 million dollars for the destruction of mosques during the civil war, the February 21, BBC News.
During the armed conflict of 1992-1995 had been destroyed, all 16 mosques in Banja Luka. A court decision concerning compensation for this mosque - the first case of involvement of Serbian authorities to account for the destruction of Islamic holy sites. Lawyers representing the interests of Muslim communities, argue that the creation of such pretsendenta more important than financial compensation.
According to Islamic organizations, all during the civil war in Serbia were destroyed or damaged more than a thousand mosques. According to agency Reuters, there were buildings that were built several centuries ago.
