The elections in Israel, more than half the electorate voted.

By 16:00 the turnout was 41.9 per cent - is slightly higher than in previous elections in 2006, when four hours of the day voted 39 per cent of voters.

It was expected that prior to the closing of polling stations at 22:00 (23:00 Moscow time) in total will be able to vote 69 percent of voters. Thus, the final turnout at 5,5 per cent higher than the result of 2006. Then came the election to 63.5 per cent of Israelis.

The main opponents of the election shall be deemed to be in power centrist "Kadima", the Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni, and the rights of the party Likud led by Benjamin Netanyahu.

Some opinion polls before the elections gave the victory of the Likud by a nearly two-fold. In third place is the most popular nationalist party "Our Home Israel", but it - left "Labor." In order to form a cabinet, the future coalition government should have a minimum of 61 of the mandate of 120 Knesset seats.
