The number of victims of wildfires in Australia has grown to 35.

The number of victims of wildfires in Australia had reached 35 people, Reuters reported on 8 February, with reference to a statement to the police. Among the dead, two children.
Most of those killed appeared in the north-west of Melbourne in Victoria. Large fires also were reported in northern New South Wales.
Rescuers suppose that in the near future the number of casualties may still grow. Previously, it was expected that the number of deaths due to fires reaches 40 people, but perhaps their number significantly higher than initial expectations.
Fires in south-eastern Australia began on Saturday. Their main cause was the prolonged heat and drought in this area: the air temperature reaches 46 locations degrees Celsius. In addition, the police believed that some of the fires were caused by arson.
Large forest fires occur in Australia each year, but only occasionally, they lead to a large number of victims among the population. Most of those killed was in 1983 - then in the Australian states of Victoria and South Australia have become victims of forest fires 75.
