NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen made a joint statement that Rasmussen will be the new генÑеком North Atlantic alliance, said AFP.
Before the press secretary of the Danish Liberal Party, headed by Rasmussen, officially confirmed the nomination of prime minister as head of NATO.
Rasmussen spoke against the candidature of Turkey. However, following negotiations with U.S. President Barack Obama, she agreed to support the Danish prime minister. Obama has promised Turkey that its representative will be one of the assistants Rassmusena and several Turkish military will go down in the command structure of NATO.
Prior to these negotiations, Turkey has tried to block the appointment of the Prime Minister of Denmark NATO. A possible reason for the negative attitude of Turkey towards Rasmussen called the scandal with the publication of the Danish media caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
