Kazakhstan has invited NATO to bring peace to Afghanistan.

NATO formally invited Kazakhstan to take part in the peacekeeping mission for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, transmits "Interfax" referring to the statement by NATO Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons (Robert Simmons).

According to Simmons, with all relevant documents were handed over to the Kazakh side. The representative of the alliance noted that the Kazakh army had already reached a level of interoperability with NATO forces.

"But in any case the final decision - to send peacekeepers to Afghanistan or not - will itself Kazakhstan", - emphasized Simmons.

In March 2009, representatives of Kazakhstan, said that going to continue to assist Afghanistan's reconstruction. In the 2007-2008 year of assistance, according to the agency "Kazinform", was about 2.5 million U.S. dollars.

Kazakhstan has also expressed readiness to participate in the training of Afghan professionals, as well as officers of the Afghan army. Meanwhile, the intent to send troops to Afghanistan and take part in NATO operations is not reported.

On the other hand April 20, Kazakhstan renounced the teachings of NATO Cooperative Longbow 09/Cooperative Lancer 09, which will be held from 6 May to 1 June in the territory of Georgia.

It should be noted that Kazakhstan is one of the key participants in the collective rapid reaction forces (ACORN), initiated by Russia with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Some experts believe the creation of ACORN a counterbalance to NATO's influence in Central Asia. In September 2009, the territory of Kazakhstan, the collective forces of the CSTO should conduct joint tactical exercises.
