The Belgian authorities have released eight people detained on suspicion of terrorism during the special operation carried out in a few hours before the opening of the EU summit in Brussels. The judge found that these persons were not given sufficient evidence, reports Associated Press.
Another six detainees have been charged with belonging to a terrorist group. According to prosecutors, they were active participants of terrorist cells, and one of the detainees had planned to commit a terrorist attack, blew himself up.
Previously, it was reported that among the intelligence agencies discovered potential terrorists was something Malik al-Arud (Malika El-Aroud), which the Western media called "a legend" Al-Qaeda. "Her husband, Ahmad Abdel Sattar, a member of the leadership of al-Qaida, died in 2001 during the assassination attempt on the leader of the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance Ahmad Shah Masood.
According to law enforcement officials, al-Arud has recruited new members in extremist organizations and anti-Western propaganda. In 2007, in Switzerland it was found guilty of publishing incitement to violence on the Internet.
