ETA militants planned to kill the King of Spain missile ground-to-air missiles.

Basque terrorist group ETA had planned to use in the assassination of the King of Spain Juan Carlos I surface-to-air missiles. That was reported by AFP on Monday, April 13.
Minister of Interior Affairs, Alfredo Perez of Spain Rubalkaba (Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba) told the press that in 2004, ETA militants were going to make an attempt on the King, using the surface-to-air missiles. The Spanish police found out about the plans of the factions, which has received from French colleagues computer disks that have relevance to the ETA. After reviewing the information, the experts came to the conclusion that ETA militants had intended to shoot a rocket at the helicopter, an airplane, on board which could be Juan Carlos.
Disks were discovered in a house in the French city of San Michele, located on the border with Spain. In the yard of the house were found fragments of missiles, ground-to-air, which is criminal, the fighters used in training purposes.
However, the Minister Rubalkaba noted that the operation of the terrorists has not been planned carefully. "They (militants ETA) studied only a theoretical possibility of such attempt, their plans were not concrete", - explained Alfredo Perez Rubalkaba.
Note that in Spain, since 1974 (when Juan Carlos was still a prince) were prevented, eight attempts against him. The latest plot against the monarch was discovered by Spanish police in 2004. Then the militants ETA had planned to shoot him from the sniper rifle.
According to the AFP, Juan Carlos I enjoyed great popularity among the Spaniards, since the death of dictator Franco in 1975, Juan Carlos has contributed to the development of the country's democratic institutions. However, for ETA militants, King remains a symbol of "centralized" in Spain.
