The number of hungry in the world for the year increased by 40 million.

As a result, the food crisis, the number of hungry people worldwide in 2008 increased by 40 million people. This is shown in the report by the Food and Agriculture United Nations (FAO).
The total number of hungry people worldwide surpassed 960 million people.
In this regard, Deputy Director General of FAO Hafez Ghanem, representing the report called on developed countries to invest in agriculture in developing countries by at least $ 30 billion.
According to FAO, price increases in 2008 for seed struck first in poor countries with little or no touching developed. In this regard, the cereal production in these countries will increase by 10 per cent, while in developing countries, the increase will be less than one percent.
As the FAO, in connection with the dire economic situation the purpose of reducing the number of hungry in the world by half in many countries is now impossible. Earlier, the UN set a goal to halve the number of hungry worldwide by 2015.
According to the report, the majority of hungry (907 million) live in developing countries. 65 percent of them live in India, China, Congo, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Ethiopia.
