Militants of radical Islamic movement Hezbollah in Egypt planned to carry out a series of terrorist attacks against Israelis as revenge for the death in February 2008, one of the leaders of Islamist Imad Mugnie, the newspaper Haaretz, referring to Arab media.
One of those arrested in Egypt agents Hezbollah Samy Shehab told investigators that during the preparation of terrorist attacks, members of his unit of well-studied places in the tourist towns of Taba, Dahab and Sharm el-Sheikh. Shehab was among 49 members of Hezbollah, who were arrested by Egyptian authorities in early April. They were suspected of preparing terrorist attacks in order to destabilize the country.
