At the moment, like AFP, in Afghanistan there are 1600 Polish soldiers, members of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), which carries out the command of NATO. Polish troops deployed to Afghanistan beginning in 2002. Most of the Polish military are serving in the province of Ghazni.
Poland at the end of March announced that it would support the proposal by U.S. President Barack Obama to increase the international military contingent in Afghanistan. Total in Afghanistan NATO member countries are going to send an additional 5 thousand troops.
