Britain has demanded the expansion of the continental shelf of the Falkland.

United Kingdom required to extend its continental shelf of the Falkland Islands, transfer agency AFP.

Relevant application was sent to the UN in the fourth and last time even on Monday, 11 May.

Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) is located within a radius of 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) from the coast, but can be expanded up to 350 nautical miles (550 kilometers) to address the special United Nations commission.

In this case the United Kingdom will receive the right to develop the continental shelf around the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.

However, as the AFP, the application of Great Britain, most likely, will not be considered as the Falkland Islands (Malvinas) Islands are a disputed territory between Britain and Argentina.

In 1982, during the Anglo-Argentine conflict Britain has Falkland control. Argentina did not recognize the outcome of the war. For its part, the UN Commission, considering the limits of the continental shelf, may make a decision only after all diplomatic controversy will settled.
