Ministry of Transport of Russia has reduced the duration of flights IL-86 in Egypt until October 2009, reports "Kommersant".
Earlier, Egyptian aviation service extended permission for the Il-86 flights to the country from 31 May to 31 December 2009. However, Ministry of Transport has adopted a separate decision to ban flights "silts" since the transition to winter schedule.
Some market participants and experts believe that the decision was influenced by a conflict between the Ministry of Transport Minister Igor Levitin and Yevgeny Bachurin, the newly appointed CEO of the airline Atlant-Soyuz. " In the fleet "Atlant-Union" are the six IL-86, which the company planned to withdraw from operations in 2011.
In October 2008, headed Rosaviatsiyu Eugene Bachurin left office due to massive delays flights airlines that are members of the Alliance AirUnion. Prior to this Bachurin criticized the work of the Ministry of Transport and sent to the Prosecutor's Office a complaint against the head of the Ministry of Transport Igor Levitin, in which the accused Levitin, in an attempt to depose him from his post as director Rosaviatsii. The Public Prosecutor's Office refused to consider complaints, and Eugene Bachurin resigned.
Representatives of the Ministry of Transport explain the decision to the fall in demand for air travel, resulting in "Russian companies an opportunity to more quickly change the IL-86 on the modern court."
In March 2007, Egyptian authorities announced their intention to ban flights of IL-86 in the country due to the fact that this model of aircraft does not comply with standards on noise. However, the term ban has already been transferred several times.
