A two-day EU-Russia Summit in Khabarovsk began with informal dinner with the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, the EU Council Secretary General Javier Solana, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus, said RIA Novosti.
After dinner, taking place in the residential complex in the village Krasnorechenskaya, they go ride a boat on the Amur river, contends the agency. Earlier, Medvedev announced that the flight to Khabarovsk proved difficult for the EU, but through a long flight, the representatives of the EU "will feel the greatness of Russia."
The main theme of the two-day EU-Russia summit will be relations between the parties in the area of energy cooperation. The newspaper Kommersant reported that Brussels intends to speak against the initiative of Dmitry Medvedev in the field of energy, proposed in April 2009. The EU does not want to put on the market for the company, threatening the energy security of European countries, it is noted that among those companies can be and Gazprom.
Also, the delegation of European Union intends to change the format of the annual summits - one of the two annual meetings between the heads of Russia and the EU, Europeans propose to replace a meeting of the European Commission and Russian Government.
