Flag of the Israeli town of proposed change because of the similarities with the Iranian.

A member of the municipality of the Israeli town of Kiryat Gat proposed to change the color of the city flag, because of its similarity with the flag of Iran, writes Yediot Aharanot.
The flag of Kiryat Gat was created 56 years ago. It shows a sickle to harvest wheat and cotton flowers in a frame of red, white and green stripes. Flag of Iran was adopted in 1980 after the Islamic revolution and represents the same green, white and red stripes with a depiction of four crescents and a sword in between.
According to the alderman Benny Hasson, flag of Kiryat Gat does not match today, so its color and image is placed on it must be replaced.
In turn, the opponents of the idea of changing the flag state of the need to remember the history of the city. In addition, they note that the replacement will require a symbol of the city are expensive.
Writes Yediot Aharanot, as a result of the discussion it was decided to set up a special committee to be headed by the Mayor of Aviram Dahariya. The committee should consider changing the flag and make its recommendations to city council.
