Russia Contract for supply to Syria MIGs derailed.

Delivery Russia party fighter, the MiG-31E interceptors to Syria, a contract which was signed in 2007, foiled. This was in the room for 20 May, writes the newspaper Kommersant.
On the abolition of the transaction edition learned from several sources in the Russian military-industrial complex. According to one of them, in a report for the year 2008 JSC "Nizhny Novgorod aircraft factory 'Falcon', which carried out the modernization of fighters before the delivery, said the termination of the MiG-31E due to" lack of a contract. "
Although the record plant in the country, which assumed the supply of machines, not named, the newspaper interviewed experts expressed confidence that it is precisely those MiGah who planned to sell Syria.
The fact of the abolition of the transaction is not confirmed either at the plant "Sokol", nor "United Aircraft Corporation, which includes the plant since 2006. However, both companies have proposed to apply to the "Rosoboronexport", whose representatives declined to comment on the breakdown of sales information.
Sources of Kommersant called the different possible causes of the breakdown of contract. One of them implies that the cancellation could result in pressure on Russia from Israel, which had in 2007 expressed strong concern over the planned sale of the Syrian MIGs. In favor of this version of the fact that in 2005 Israel has been able to persuade Moscow to abandon sales of Damascus missiles Iskander-E ".
Other sources claim that Syria had refused to purchase the aircraft in relation to the financial situation in an Arab country. This assumption is also realistic, because Syria has to be Russia more than three billion rubles, in spite of the cancellation of Moscow in 2005, 70 percent of Syrian debt. Factor of lack of money may increase the economic crisis affecting almost all countries in the world.
The publication said that in 2007, the acceptance of MiG-29SMT has refused to Algeria. Nevertheless, according to one expert, the word which brings "Kommersant", the basis of the Algeria's decision was based on political motives, while Syria to abandon the transaction because of an economic nature.
