France will reduce the foreign military contingent.

The French Government intends to reduce the size of the 13 thousandth of foreign military contingent of around 20 percent, reported France Presse, referring to the military head of the country. Reduction, in particular, will be subjected to forces deployed in the Balkans and Cote d'Ivoire.
In Côte d'Ivoire, which is a former colony of France, about 2 thousand troops deployed in that country to support the UN. Now, in the opinion of the Minister of Defense, in the territory of Côte d'Ivoire is to keep only part of a rapid response, although the French military will also continue to carry out the tasks of the peacekeeping forces of international organizations.
Reducing the number of troops in the Serbian province of Kosovo and Bosnia are also justified because the situation there, according to the French minister, was to improve. In this regard, can be partially replaced by the military to civilian observers. Currently, the territories of Serbia and Bosnia posted 2 thousand and 150 troops respectively.
The reduction will not be affected by a contingent of French troops in Afghanistan. It has about 2.6 thousand troops and is the fourth on this measure among the other participants in the coalition. Increase the number of its troops in the country, Paris is also not planned.
Already in 2009 the total number of deployed outside the country, the French troops should not exceed 10-11 thousand people. This would allow Paris to save each year to 200 million dollars.
