In Somalia, the election of President.

   The Parliament of Somalia began the election of a new president, announced January 30, AFP.
The main candidates for the presidency - former Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein and head of the Union of Islamic Courts, Sheikh Sharif Ahmed (Union of Islamic Courts is the most moderate branch of the Islamist Alliance for the Liberation of Somalia). All of the Head of State claimed 15 candidates.
Sharif Ahmed said that should he be elected head of state, he would first make peace in the country. Meanwhile, in 2006, is headed by the Union of Islamic Courts, Sheikh overthrew President Abdullah Yusuf Ahmed, and then in a short period of time controlled the capital and much of Somalia. Yusuf Ahmed returned to the Head of State with the help of Ethiopian troops nearby.
With regard to Nur Hassan Hussein, international analysts have appreciated its humanitarian activities at the premiere. However, critics believe that to win the presidential election of Hussein may not have charisma. In Somalia, believe that he has a lack of influence even on his own clan.
Abdullah Yusuf Ahmed had left the presidency in December 2008. He led the country since 2004. A few days before the resignation of Yusuf Ahmed Nur Hassan Hussein has dismissed the views of Parliament and appointed a new Prime Minister Mohamed Mohamud Gouled. However Gouled refused to take the post of prime minister because they did not want conflict with Parliament. After that, the resignation has left the president.
In Somalia, the second decade of a civil war. Much of the country is under the control of Islamists, and not subject to formal government. Strong central government in Somalia has not had since 1991.
January 16, 2009 the media reported that the Union of Islamic Courts fighters took the Somali capital Mogadishu. Election of the President are not in the capital, and in the city of Djibouti.
