Multimillion-dollar project the Museum of British history is buried.

Gestate for several years the concept of creation in the United Kingdom British history museum recognition fails and will not be realized. The project cost was estimated at 150 million pounds (214 million dollars). The newspaper The Independent said that the idea of the museum is supported by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
The concept of the museum was criticized by several groups of experts. In a lengthy report of their arguments were presented in the Government Department for Culture, Media and Sport. According to The Independent, the Department agrees with the criticism, and the project decided not to exercise. But the official pronouncements on this matter was not yet.
Study of the project to perpetuate "the British" were experts from the largest museums in the country. They drew attention to several problem sites in the concept. First, there is no data that the building or complex of buildings devoted exclusively to British history, to attract visitors. Secondly, the collection will be formed from the funds of other collections, which is technically very difficult. Third, many skeptics thought the concept of the museum resembles "Soviet agitprop."
As an alternative to the museum, experts suggest creating a network of British History Center, which will coordinate the thematic access to museum collections. Financing such a center can be done from existing resources.
