Kim Jong-Il has appointed his successor, the head of the KGB.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has appointed his younger son, Kim Jong Una head of State Security, which reports directly to the head of state and performs the functions of the secret police and foreign intelligence. This is the agency Associated Press, referring to South Korean newspaper Ton Ilbo.
According to the edition, citing unnamed sources, the appointment was held in March 2009. Presenting the officers of his son, the leader of North Korea called on them to protect it in the same earnest, the price of their own lives "as they used to guard itself, Kim Jong Il.
Earlier, South Korean intelligence has reported that Kim Jong Il, officially introduced Kim Jong Una as his successor, and in the country have already begun expressing dedication ceremony, the son of the leader of the DPRK.
