PACE criticized the Russian courts and the police.

Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) on 24 June criticized Russian authorities for the failure of democratization and protection of human rights, writes June 25, "Kommersant".
Among the major claims in the Council of Europe to Russia is still not canceled the death penalty (in Russia operates a moratorium on such executions). In addition, Russia has not yet signed the convention against trafficking in persons, and has not ratified the 14 th Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights, simplifying the work of the Strasbourg court.
Also in the PACE resolution says that the Russian law enforcement officers abused the use of force, Russia is not shared until the end of either a military or judicial reform, and members of sexual minorities are subjected to harassment. The organization also condemned Russia and Georgia over the conflict in South Ossetia in August 2008. Recall that the fall of 2008, PACE had requested the Russian authorities to cancel recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
