The Congress of Honduras has appointed interim president.

National Congress of Honduras has appointed temporarily as acting President of the Republic, the Speaker of Parliament, Roberto Micheletti (Roberto Micheletti). This was reported in Sunday, June 28, AFP.
This decision took place after the parliament voted for the resignation of President Manuel Zelaya. Earlier Sunday, the Supreme Court of Honduras issued a ruling legitimize the military action that the president was arrested and forcibly took him to Costa Rica.
Term of office Zelaya, elected in 2006, expires in January 2010. Said Micheletti, 60-year-old leader of the Liberal Party of Honduras, will be acting head of state until 27 January 2010. It was expected that new presidential elections would be held in Honduras in late November 2009.
A military coup occurred in Honduras on Sunday, June 28. Putschists opposed holding a constitutional referendum, which was to decide on the possibility of a second presidential term for Zelaya.
