Half a thousand Georgian soldiers go to Afghanistan.

Five Georgian servicemen will be sent to Afghanistan to strengthen the international NATO force to promote stabilization in the country (ISAF), transmits Agence France-Presse.

Notably, the information about the plans of the Georgian leadership came shortly after the White House circulated a report on the visit by U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden to Tbilisi to be held on 20 July 2009. In addition to Georgia, adds AFP, Biden also plans to visit Ukraine - July 24. And Tbilisi and Kiev have repeatedly stated their intention to join NATO but the alliance considers that the country is not enough ready for full membership.
At this moment in Afghanistan are concentrated in a total of 90 thousand military alliance, most of them Americans. Georgia, like AFP, has experience in military cooperation with NATO - since 2003, two thousand Georgian troops were in the composition of the coalition forces in Iraq, but were pulled back to Georgia during the conflict with Russia in August 2008.
