American political scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski, who was adviser to Barak Obama on foreign policy during the presidential election campaign, has called for an alliance with the U.S. by China on the model of Washington's relations with Europe and Japan. This Brzezinski writes in the article in the Financial Times. With such a proposal he made earlier in Beijing.
According to political analyst, the two countries need to create something like the "big eight" (G8), which today is an informal forum in which leaders of the leading states to discuss global problems. As stressed by Brzezinski, the leaders of China and the U.S. must also meet in an informal setting to discuss not only bilateral relations but also global policy issues.
The basis for such negotiations, according to political scientist, can be adopted by China's strategy of gradual, peaceful increase its influence in the world. As was pointed out Brzezinski, China should be involved in solving the Iranian and North Korean nuclear issues, the Middle East settlement, the negotiations on the normalization of the relations of India and Pakistan.
The question of relations with Beijing is gradually becoming central to the debate on the priorities of American foreign policy. In terms of GDP, China has surpassed Japan and is second behind the U.S. in the world. It is China's largest foreign creditor of the United States. By 2015, Beijing intends to build the first two aircraft carrier. However, China needs the U.S. to the investment and access to the U.S. market for the development of its economy.
