Inflation in Germany in 2008, jumped to a maximum of 14 years.

Consumer prices in Germany on the basis of 2008 rose to a record for 14 years, the amount - 2.6 percent. This is stated in an official press release published on the website of National Bureau of Statistics of Germany Destatis.
According to Destatis, a record high for Germany, inflation in the past year, attributable primarily to higher prices for food and gasoline. For example, food for the year went up by 6.4 percent, and energy - at 9.6 percent.
At the same time, according to the statistical service of Germany, in December 2008 consumer price inflation in the country has been minimal since October 2006 owing to lower oil prices. Dekabrskaya inflation stood at 1.1 per cent year on year.
Note that by the end of the year inflation rate fell in all States of the euro. For example, in November last year, inflation in the euro zone was 2.1 percent annualized. A month earlier consumer prices rose by 3.2 percent. Thus, the decline in inflation was the biggest decline in 20 years.
