In Peru, an earthquake of 5.8 points.

Earthquake 5.8 on the Richter scale occurred on Monday in southern Peru, reports AFP. According to the Geophysics Institute of Peru, the epicenter of the earthquake was 74 kilometers east of the city of Pisco.

Data on victims and the destruction has yet been received, however, reported that the tremors caused panic among local residents.
In August 2007, an earthquake of 7.9 points destroyed 80 percent of Pisco, and led to the deaths of 595 people.
