Kosovo accepted into the ranks of participants in the World Bank.

According to Thaci, the official government delegation will soon leave for Kosovo, Washington, in the United States to sign a formal agreement on the membership of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Kosovo applied for membership in the IMF in July 2008, several months after the declaration of independence. The authorities of the republic at that time applied for membership in the World Bank.
In early May 2009 the IMF reported that the Republic of Kosovo has received a proposal to join the organization. For Kosovo, which will be 186 th member of the fund, an initial quota in the IMF in the amount of 88.64 million dollars. The total quota of all the countries - members of the IMF is 326.6 billion dollars.
The government of Serbia in 2007, is offering Kosovo the right to membership in the IMF and World Bank in the status of autonomous province of Serbia, but the then Prime Minister Agim Ceku said that the priority issue is to recognize the independence of the region - a condition in which Serbia does not agree.
Since the unilateral declaration of independence of 17 February 2008 Kosovo is already recognized 60 states, of which, however, does not include Russia, acting on the side of Serbia, which continues to consider Kosovo part of its territory.
