The military took control of seaports and airports in Venezuela.

Venezuelan army on Saturday took control of seaports and airports in the states, the governors who are in opposition to President Hugo Chávez, the Associated Press.

A few days ago, Chavez has accused the authorities of these states that they use ports and airports to transport drugs. The bill transfers all major transportation hubs under the control of federal authorities, was approved March 16, Venezuelan lawmakers.

The authorities of the opposition state government of Chavez, in turn, argue that the passage of transport units under the control of the federal government will lead to a drastic reduction in revenue for the state. Previously, local authorities may independently collect a fee for the use of hubs and set tariffs for the use of toll highways.

Venezuela - a federal state, which is composed of 23 states. As of March 2009, the governors of five states are in opposition to Chavez.
