In the capital of Sri Lanka Colombo Lankans stoned the British Embassy and burned a stuffed British Foreign Secretary David Milibenda, reported Reuters on Monday, 18 May.
According to the agency, in riots involving more than a thousand people. Stones at the British embassy were broken two windows. The rioters also set fire to a scarecrow British Foreign Secretary David Milibenda and threw him into the territory of the diplomatic mission.
As noted by Reuters, formerly Milibend acted with criticism of the Government of Sri Lanka and demanded an international investigation of war crimes that took place during large-scale government military operation against militants from separatistkoy group, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. The group is fighting a war for an independent Tamil state in the north-east of the island since 1972.
