Spain launched an investigation of torture at Guantanamo.

Judge Baltasar Garzón, famous for a number of high-profile cases, has decided to initiate an investigation despite the objections of the Attorney General of Spain.
Garzón, a judge-Investigating Lawyer National Judicial College of Spain, announced that acting in the name of respect for universal principles of justice. In mid-April, the Spanish Attorney General Candido Conde-Pumpido (Candido Conde-Pumpido) said that he could not support the initiative Garzón, as well as actions the Bush administration should be considered by American authorities.
Human rights activists have repeatedly pointed out that the interrogation of suspected terrorists held by the Americans in the camp at Guantanamo Bay and other facilities located overseas, can be classified as torture. Contentious practice of previous authorities, was one of the main topics of discussion in the United States after the administration of Barack Obama. The new president ordered the closure of the prison at Guantanamo and released a few secret directives of the hard questioning.
