WTO unanimously re-elect its director.

Members of the World Trade Organization, which unites more than 150 countries, unanimously re WTO director general Pascal Lamy. Reported AFP. Other candidates for this position was not, therefore, the vote was formality.
During the last elections - in 2005 - apart from other applicants for the post of Director General Lamy to the WTO did not exist. As in 2005, currently Pascal Lamy was elected for four years. "I am confident that the next four years will be difficult ... but I am also confident that we can get out of the storm unharmed," - Lamy said after his election.
Prior to joining the World Trade Organization, Pascal Lamy was Adviser to the President of the European Socialist Party, the Trade Commissioner of European Commission, as well as adviser to the Minister of Finance and Prime Minister of France.
World Trade Organization was created in 1995. Its main goal - help to reduce the number of administrative and other barriers to the conduct of international trade. Of the major economies in the WTO is not only Russia. Talks on Russia's WTO accession are already more than ten years. They can not be completed due to the fact that Russia does not want to open to foreigners, some market segments. In turn, the WTO members do not want Russia to make concessions.
Under the WTO, a country can join the organization if the serves no member of the WTO. Even before the armed conflict in South Ossetia additional conditions for Russia joining the WTO launched Georgia.
