Charles Aznavour was appointed Ambassador of Armenia in Switzerland.

The famous French chanson of Armenian origin Charles Aznavour was appointed Ambassador of Armenia to Switzerland and Permanent Representative of the country at the UN headquarters, Interfax reports. The relevant decrees of the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan signed a 5 and 4 May.

But within a few days actor changed his mind and agreed with the proposal of the President. "At first I doubted, because I thought that this is hard work. But then I thought - that it is important for Armenia, must be important for all of us. And I accepted the invitation with pleasure, gladly and with great reverence," - he said whereas journalists.
At the end of 2008, Aznavour received Armenian citizenship. Earlier, in 2004, Singer was awarded the highest state award of Armenia - the Order of the Fatherland. In addition, it awarded the title of National Hero of Armenia ".
