Croatian deputy planted for 10 years for war crimes.

   Member of the Croatian Parliament Branimir Glavash (Branimir Glavas) sentenced to 10 years in prison for war crimes committed in 1991. This May 8, reports Associated Press.
During the war Glavash commanded a small unit in the eastern part of Croatia. The court convicted the deputy acknowledged that he did not prevent his subordinates arrested, tortured and killed at least eight peaceful Serbs.
Harassment Glavasha began in 2005. AFP reports that the charges he had been in 2007. To do this, he removed the deputy immunity. After a few months longer in detention Glavash was re-elected in the new parliament, and again regained immunity. In January 2008, immunity was again removed from the suspect, and the trial continued.
According to Reuters, along with Glavashem to various terms of imprisonment had been convicted six of his former subordinates. Each of them hold in prison from five to seven years.
Branimir Glavash was one of the founders of the ruling Croatian party Croatian Democratic Union. " In 2006, he was dismissed from the party. Glavash calls against him and the political process does not admit his guilt in killing innocent civilians.
