France to share nuclear technology with Pakistan.

Pakistan, France will provide technology for peaceful uses of atomic energy. This was agreed during the talks the two Presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and Asif Ali Zardari, reported Agence France-Presse.
On reaching an agreement in principle between the two countries on cooperation in the peaceful atom reported, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Details of negotiations are not yet known.
The first research reactor was launched in Pakistan in 1965. The fuel supplied to it by the United States. In 1972 came into operation the first nuclear power plant in Karachi with a single reactor with a capacity of 125 megawatts. It was built by specialists from Canada. Initially, plant operated in the Canadian and American nuclear fuel, but later they began to use Pakistani fuel production.
The second nuclear power plant near the city Chamsha was built in cooperation with China. It gave power reactor of 300 megawatts. In addition, Pakistan built a number of research reactors in the country were set up facilities for producing heavy water and uranium concentrate produced.
In 1998, Pakistan successfully conducted a series of tests of nuclear explosive devices, with capacity from 12 to 45 kilotons.
