Polish police announced the detention of 54 people suspected of involvement in the dissemination of child pornography via the Internet. According to AFP, in the police operation had been carried out searches in 60 houses and apartments located in different regions of Poland.
A suspected pedophile seized 84 computers, 34 hard disks and more than five thousands of CD and DVD, containing child pornography.
According to AFP, February and March 2009 in Poland for the storage and dissemination of such material had been arrested 134 persons. They were detained during two operations, one of which was conducted jointly with the police of Austria.
The Agency notes that under Polish law for possessing and distributing child pornography could receive up to eight years in prison.
