At the Italian border with Switzerland, arrested two Japanese, who found the bonds in the amount of U.S. 134 billion dollars. The papers were hidden in false-bottomed suitcase, reports AFP referring to the Italian financial police.
Detained Japanese were trying to get from Italy to Switzerland by train. At customs, they stated that they have nothing to declare.
Police verifies the authenticity of the found bond. According to the AFP, for the smuggling of securities detainees could face a fine of up to 38 billion dollars.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan reported that Italian authorities continue to investigate and so far do not reveal all the circumstances of what happened. The representative of the Consulate General of Japan in Milan was unable to confirm that the detainees are Japanese citizens, reports Bloomberg.
