According to Billboard, all revenues from the so-called Mandela Day (tickets cost from 50 to 350 dollars) will be transferred to a charitable trust 46664 involved in the fight against AIDS. The name for the fund received prison number that was assigned Mandela: for his fight against apartheid in South Africa, he spent 27 years in prison.
Musicians are not the first time spend Mandela Day. In 2008, in honor of 90 anniversary of Africans in London's Hyde Park was the same concert, which was attended by Queen, Simple Minds, Annie Lennox, Amy Uaynhaus, Leona Lewis, Djivan Gasparyan, and others. In 1988, the stadium "Wembley" was a music marathon in support of Mandela, then in jail. Among others at the festival were Dire Straits, Eurythmics, Bee Gees, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Eric Klepton, George Michael, E Green, Joe Cocker, Paul Young and Bryan Adams.
In the United States Mandela Day is held for the first time. Former U.S. president Bill Clinton also intends to give in honor of Mandela's Day Charity Dinner.
