Most EU countries unanimously supported a second term Barroso.

Leaders of 27 EU member states unanimously endorsed the candidacy of José Manuel Barroso as the chairman of the European Commission, announced June 19, agency Associated Press. Barroso was the only candidate for this position.
Speaking at the EU summit in Brussels, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Fischer said that the approval of the leaders of the EU must provide support for Barroso, the European deputies. To complete the procedure of re-requires that the nomination was approved by Barroso, the European Parliament.
According to Fisher, the approval of Barroso President of the European can not be delayed under conditions of global economic and financial crisis, calling on European decision-making. According to the agency, MPs can vote for the re-Barroso in July 2009.

The European Commission is the supreme executive body of the European Union and consists of 27 commissioners - one from each EU country. As chairman of the European Commission, 26 of its members are appointed by the Council of Europe (with the approval of the selected chair), then the composition of the European Commission adopted the European Parliament.
