Since January 2010, from 15 thousand NATO troops in Kosovo will remain 10 thousand.

KFOR forces have been formed in January 1999 after the military operation of NATO in Kosovo.
In accordance with UN Resolution 1244, KFOR tasks proclaimed security, preventing the resumption of hostilities the Serb side, the disarmament of the Kosovo Liberation Army and to assist in the reconstruction of civic institutions.
Since June 2008 KFOR tasks to add the task of learning and the formation of the Kosovo disaster situations (Kosovo Protection Corps - KPC) and the Armed Forces of Kosovo (Kosovo Security Force - KSF).
Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence from Serbia in February 2008. Many nations, including United States and most EU countries recognized Kosovo, they opened their embassies, but Serbia, Russia and China refused to recognize.
