The Russian Foreign Ministry vex the Japanese law on the sovereignty of the Kuriles.

Russian Foreign Ministry described as "very unfortunate" the bill, confirming the sovereignty of Japan on several Southern Kuril Islands, and passed the lower house of parliament of the country on Thursday, June 11. Foreign Ministry official Andrei Nesterenko said that the agency will speak shortly with a detailed commentary on the document and give him an assessment, Interfax reports. Japanese MPs unanimously voted for a law declaring the island of Iturup, Shikotan, Kunashir, and the South Kuril ridge (Habomai group of islands), an integral part of Japan. The document states that the country will do everything possible to accelerate the return of the islands. Currently, these islands are part of the July rossiyskimi.V summit G8, which will take place in the Italian Akvile, to be held Russo-Japanese negotiations. The law has been prepared specially for this event: in Tokyo, believes that it should give new impetus to the ongoing campaign for the return of the Kuri!
l Islands archipelago. In particular, the document envisages the expansion of visa-free regime for Russians living in the Kurils, and the Japanese, who were forced to leave ostrova.Vse Kuril Islands Russia crossed after the Second World War, but Japan continues to challenge some of them: the country's authorities believe that Iturup, Shikotan, Kunashir and Habomai are not included in the Kuril Archipelago, and, consequently, Tokyo would not refuse. Between the islands run the only ice-free Russian Straits, which in winter provide a fleet of RF output in the Pacific area.
