Chavez ordered the military to take control of ports.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ordered the military to take control of country's largest ports, located in the states, the governors who are in opposition to the central government. According to the Associated Press, these measures allows for the head of state last week passed a law to transfer the management of trunk roads, ports and airports to the federal government.
In his weekly address to the nation Chavez accused the governors that they are allowed to use on the territory of their state ports and airports to transport drugs.
The opposition, for its part, argues that the law would reduce revenues to the state that had previously been able to independently collect a fee for the use of hubs and set tariffs for the use of toll highways.
Venezuela is a federal state comprising 23 states. At last in November 2008 local elections in 17 states, won the supporters of Chavez. The opposition has succeeded in five states and the Federal District.
In February 2009 the country held a referendum, which resulted in the Head of State was allowed to re-post this unlimited number of times, thus opening the way to life Chávez presidency, because he enjoys broad support among the majority population.
