Vietnam considered golf a threat to agriculture.

Construction fields for golf threatens agricultural land of Vietnam and a third has already been approved by officials of the country projects to build golf clubs should be stopped, said AFP.
According to the Minister of Planning and Investment of Vietnam in Hong Fuka (Vo Hong Phuc), only 50 out of 166 projects to build golf courses should be abolished. "There is no reason to use the fields on which rice is grown, for the construction of golf courses," - said the Minister at a meeting of the National Assembly of Vietnam. He also said that land suitable for agriculture, is most of the land that regional officials gave a construction of golf clubs.
Government, which is one of the largest exporters of rice in the world, believes that rice fields should be preserved for the nation's food security.
According to the International Rice Research Institute, located in the Philippines in 2009 is also expected sharp jump in prices for rice, because its production will decline because of the crisis.
In April 2008 the price of rice on the world market for the first time exceeded a thousand dollars per ton.
