Crew of German storozhevika detained nine Somali pirates.

SyuzhetyPiratstvo off Somali22.02.2009Piraty seized a Greek ship ship Navy Germany prevented an attack by pirates on the freighter off the coast of Somalia, AFP reported citing the Ministry of Defense. Nine attackers were arrested.
Storozhevik "Raynland-Palatinate" received a message of distress from a ship owned by a German company, on the morning of Tuesday, 3 March. The crew reported that the pirates are shelling freighter from grenade launchers and machine guns.
On the starboard storozhevika helicopter rose into the air, another helicopter was sent to the American ship "Monterey." They fired warning shots, preventing the seizure of the vessel. "Raynland-Palatinate" went to the site of attack where the pirates seized.
In 2008, pirates attacked more than 100 ships, took place on the Gulf of Aden. In order to combat piracy in the Indian Ocean to the ships sent the United States, European Union, Russia and other countries.
