Bolivian President Evo Morales chew coca leaf at UN Conference on Drugs in Vienna. Speaking before the Commission on Narcotic Drugs United Nations, Morales called for the deletion of coca from the list of banned drugs, reports AFP.
Chew list of prohibited plants, the president of Bolivia, said that now it is put in jail. Since then, Morales said that the coca leaf can not be equated with cocaine and that the plant did not cause any harm and is not addictive. Sam Morales, he said, regularly chews coca for 10 years and the plant grows.
Describing about the harmlessness of coca growers, Morales called on the UN Kocou deleted from the convention of 1961, which indicated illegal substances, and instead of plants to include in the list of illicit coca paste (the smoke from tobacco or marijuana). "The coca leaf holy," - added Morales.
Note that for several years, Morales is an active supporter of the legalization of coca. At the formal meetings Kocou in solidarity with Bolivia chewed and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
