Last year, Katsav refused to deal with the investigation, which initially allowed him to avoid charges of rape. Under the deal, he agreed to admit guilt to three small items. It was expected that the former president escaped with a small contingent for a period and a fine. However, later Katsav said he will seek a full acquittal.
Katsav has been implicated in the sexual scandal in 2006, when he complained to police at his former employee, who allegedly blackmailed him, accusing of sexual harassment. The investigation found evidence against Katsav. Moreover, he was charged with harassment, a few women.
According to public pressure and leadership Katsav of Israel in mid-2007, was forced to resign.
