Constitutional Court acknowledged the electronic voting does not meet the principles of fair and open elections, reports Deutsche Welle. Decision of the court, citizens will vote in upcoming elections the old-fashioned - using the ballot box.
The Court also recognized that the use of the general elections in 2005, electronic voting machines, manufactured in the Netherlands, Germany violated the election law. It is noted that these devices are not allowed to guarantee the control of the ballot.
However, it is reported that this court decision does not mean a complete ban on electronic voting, but only relates to the current generation of machines.
Using the Dutch e-voting machines caused the criticism of some voters. In particular, they were unhappy that, after pressing the button can not be seen, for whom "left" vote. It was also noted that this was easily subject to manipulation.
Upcoming elections will be held in Germany in September.
