The official charged with spying for China, reportedly a former senior official of the Administration of the President of Taiwan Wang Tszenbinu, who left office in 2008, reports AFP. The prosecutor asked for him three years in prison.

Ex-Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian, who has worked in the administration of the Van Tszenbin, led the country for two terms from 2000 to 2008. He is currently in prison. Against him started a trial on charges of corruption, embezzlement of public funds and forgery. In case the charges will be able to prove the guilt of the ex-president, he faces life imprisonment.
Although Taiwan separated from China in 1949, the official Beijing considers the island its territory. In the past spy scandal between the two countries were already more than once. Both countries have made real effort to compromise contender in the international arena.
